1. Barrow Street Press – Poetry Book Contest

Judged by Patricia Spears Jones, the Book Prize is awarded annually by the Barrow Street Press. Simply submit in-print or online a 50 to 80-page manuscript of original poetry.

Entry Fee: $25 in-print, $28 electronically
Prize: $1,500

2. Engine Books – Short Fiction Story Contest

Engine Books is looking for its annual prize winner for their Fiction Prize. Submission guidelines state to submit a short story collection, a novella collection, or a novel, along with a cover letter. Maya Lang will judge and all submissions will be considered for publication.

Prize: $2000 and publication by Engine Books

3. Narrative Magazine – Spring Short Story Contest

Join this writing contest by Narrative magazine for a chance to win $2,500 (for first place winners) and $1,000 for second place winners. Narrative is looking for short stories, essays, and excerpts of up to 15,000 words.

4. phren-Z – Morton Marcus Poetry Contest

In conjunction with Santa Cruz Writes, phren-Z is looking for its annual poem contest winner. Not only will the winner win $1000 cash prize, but they will also to give a reading at the seventh annual Morton Marcus Poetry Reading at Cabrillo College in Aptos, California. 5. Radar Poetry, Coniston Prize for Female Poets

Designed for women, the Coniston Prize from Radar Poetry focuses on groups of three to six poems written by women. Dorothea Lasky will judge and all submissions will be considered for publication.
