It’s the not thinking
That’s the chore,
That’s why so many therapists
And DFS coaches are in well-paid jobs.

It’s the not thinking
About a rape by a victim,
And the not thinking
Of a stranger’s greasy hands
All over your front hall.

It’s the not thinking
Of the murderers and murders
Of yesterday, the today
And their possibilities
Into tomorrow.

It’s the not thinking
The not thinking,
It’s the not thinking
That’s the chore.

I’m a new aged hermit who due to illness, uses words as my link to the outer world. My poems and short stories have been published in magazines, anthologies, and journals in Ireland, the UK, US, Canada, and India. My first poetry collection Observant Observings was published in 2014 (Tayen Lane Publishing) and nominated for the Griffin Poetry Prize 2015.
