For the past 31 years, NYFA has been supporting artists from diverse cultural backgrounds at all stages of their professional careers. We’re searching for outstanding dark poems including sad poems about death; mournful, deep poems about loss; depressing poems on any subject; sad poems about memories, experiences, lost loved ones; and general emotional, stirring sad poetry.

We’re accepting poetry submissions in the following categories:
The Griffin Trust for Excellence in Poetry runs an annual poetry contest for published poetry books. The poetry competition is open to both Canadian and International poets and poetry translators. Prizes include two cash prizes of $65,000 CAD (approximately $46,800).
To be eligible to enter this contest, your poetry book must be at least 48 pages long and have been published between January 1 and December 31. This poetry contest is free to enter! Submission Deadline
